Witty Wetlands.

Kia Ora!

This week for reading my group of about 13 people were learning about Wetlands and how they are important to the environment I had to make a poster on google drawings to share this work and what I took away from the task.

This task had to contain:

  1. What are the threats to wetlands in New Zealand?
  2. How can individuals or communities work to protect and preserve wetland ecosystems?
  3. What are the valuable functions that Wetlands perform?
  4. How are they important in your own life?

This picture will take you to my poster

.

I learnt a lot about the Wetlands in this task.

Do you know any Wetlands if so please tell me in the comments.

Have a good day.

Radical Reading.

This week we got to do a reading taskboard. We got the chance to choose what we got to make a create, my first choice was the Haka.

The Haka was envented in 1820 by a Maori chef by the name of Te Rauparaha. The famous haka called “Ka Mete” but the Haka that the All Black perform is called “Kapa o Pango”.  The Haka is a dance that the Moari perform to welcome there guest’s or to show off there dancing skills. Here is my link to my create which is a interview.

How can we be Champions of Peace

How can we be Champions of Peace

For the last four weeks of Term 3 we were learning about ‘How we can be Champions on Peace’. Firstly we learnt about the different symbols of peace. These are the CDN symbol, Rainbow Flag, Yin Yang, Flowers and a Dove

These symbols represent peace because in the 1900’s people would use the CDN symbol to stop their countries from using nuclear weapons. The Rainbow Flag is used for world peace and stops hatred. Yin Yang is used for peace in Korea and in different countries too. The Dove is used for peace in the Catholic/Christian community and symbolizes the Holy Spirit.

With these symbols in mind I created a Peace Artwork. My Peace Artwork represents peace because it has peace symbols and is creative.

We also researched some real life champions of peace and wrote a short biography. I wrote about Martin Lurther King,  I thought this person was a champion of peace because he wanted and fought for African-Americans rights.

We also created a peace prayer book. I have attached my peace prayer book here. Link to Prayer book.

I enjoyed learning about peace because I learnt a lot about peacemakers and peace in general. I learnt that MLK(Martin Lurther King) fought for his people’s rights and succeed. One way I plan on being a champion of peace is by being kind, giving back and helping out.

Super Science

Last week, in Science we had to make a flash light work with a battery and a light.

It was hard, but I ended up doing it. My partners Eli and Eton made a fish out of the playdough, and the light was blue and green. For the other task, we had to make a light work with tinfoil, a battery, and tape.

There were no instructions, so me and Eli and Eton did not know what to do, so we did not end up get to making the light. The next task was to make a buzzer buzz.

My Hypothesis was that it was not going to work because I did not know that salt and water makes an element on the periodic table. I thought that it was going to be a lost cause but it proved me wrong.

We poured water and salt in to a jar and put a cooper nail and a zinc nail and clip them on to the jar with the clamps at the end of the buzzer. That made it buzz and we were happy and I was surprised that it actually worked.

Mathmathletic

This week in maths we have been working on probabilaty and we had to flip a coin to figure out the out comes.

I flip the coin twenty times and the out comes are in the image below. This took me a long time to flip the coin but it gave me the out come I needed.

This graph has heads on the left and tails on the right of the graph. This is a bar graph that shows you your out come in a bar 2d and 3d.

Click the image for the full veiw.

After I flipped the coin I would write down the out comes. Even though the precent in 50/50 but heads had the best outcome. if you want to flip a coin online go to COIN FLIP INSTENT HEADS OR TAILS.

Leaning Tower Of Pisa

This week for reading we are learning about the leaning tower of Pisa. This is our Goal for the week:use questions to challenge the text, question the author, establish the authenticity of the text and state opinions. so we have to question the author and see if it is authentic or not. I knew that the leaning tower of pisa was real so that told me that is was a real place. So that means that this text is non fiction. For the create you had to made a DLO to teach other people about what you have learnt. Here is mine.

Emtphy Rocks PBL

Over the course of term one we have looked at the question: How can we help build a resilient community? We are using something called The Resilience Project to understand simple tricks to make our lives better.

I have learnt that empthy can show you help and support in life. Empathy is when you support someone by showing them empthy.

The whole school had a showcase evening to look at all the students’ creations and learn more about The Resilience Project.

Here is an invite I made:

For the showcase evening I worked with Cody and Christan

We decided to create empathy rocks Because they were easy to make and it was fun and got alot of attention

Here is my final creation:

I now know more about/understand what GEM is and how I can use it in my life to be happier.

Throughout the creating process I feel like I did the painting  really well. I could have been better at collecting the rocks

If I was to do this again, next time I would do nothing different

Reading WW1 Tunnels

In World War 1 the Germans made a tunneling system to flank their enemy’s for better and more angles for attack them. They also use the tunnels for survival this can help them to win the war and land of the enemys base. The tunnels are armed with bombs and guards at the front and back of the tunnel so if any one that is not in their country or allies will be shoot dead. The tunnels have a hospital and kitchens for the tunnelers and the guards for food. Tunnels can also have storage and light for the miner to see they can also have beds for the miners to sleep on. I have a image of my tunnel I made last week.

I hope you like my blog what is your favourite part about the wars. Link
